Exploring the lines at the British Museum, London, UK

Exploring interactions of people and spaces. It took me a while to find the right person and the right angle... good for practicing patience! Taken at the British Museum, London

Playing at the Design Museum, London

Photographing babies is not an easy task! In the picture, Baby Alex, the son of my Russian-Lithuanian-British friend, playing at the designer museum, opened in 2016.

More to the museum: Designed byJohn Pawson and OMA, it is located at the former Commonwealth Institute building in Kensington. London, Uk. It has a great space with very interesting lines and a parabolic roof.

Gear: Canon 5dmarkIII, Lenses: Canon 24-105mm at 60mm 1/250 f/ 4, ISO 5000

Since I didn't have a flash I had to push up the ISO resulting in a quite granulous texture

An afternoon at the Museum...

The Natural History Museum is a must see, collosal piece of architecture. It was built in 1880, but a competition was held in 1864 to design the museum, The winner, Francis Fowke, died shorty afterwards and the design was taken over by ALfred Waterhouse, who put in it a specila romanesque style. Construction works lasted for 7 years.

Unfortunately it is always extremely crowded, not easy for photographers, a good way of training patience!

Serpentine Pavillion 2017 by Francis Kéré, London, UK

I went early morning to Kensington Gardens to discover the 2017 Pavillion. Those pavillions are provisional constructions commissioned to great architects every year and they last the time of a summer. I was rewarded with this pretty morning light.

Dreaming .... portrait of a teenager

Less than 12 hours in Geneva, coming from Russia I had the time to enjoy my family's company for dinner at Le Théàtre de l'Orangerie on the beautiful Parc de la Grange, Geneva, Switzerland.

Portrait of dreaming Andrea, 17 years old.

Canon 5dMarkIII, Canon 24-105mm, ISO 2500, f/4 1/50. Light corrections on Lightroom, since the ambience light was redish, not so easy for portraits

Kanoniersky Island, Saint Petersburg, Russia

Kanonersky Island, one of Saint Petersburg Islands, an old artillery gunpowder depotwas built on the island. It has a post-industrialist favour. Nowadays ships pass near the island through the ship canal to the dam and further. Some docks and piers are working around, a highway is under construction. I went there on a wild photographic tourwith russian friends trying to find signs of decay, and there are many!

Circles, Naval cathedral of Saint Nicholas, Saint Petersburg

Dome of the Naval cathedral of Saint Nicholas, Kronstadt, an island at the outskirts of Saint Petersburg. This Russian orthodox cathedral was built in 1903–1913 as the main church of the Russian Navy dedicated to all fallen seamen. Inside the walls of the cathedral you can read the names of all (known) fallen seamen.

I went there one day before the big Navy Parade, when preparation was in full swing. Beautiful and sad at the same time.

Grand entrance to New Holland Island, long fell into neglect, Saint Petersburg, Russia

New Holland Island was created in 1719. After the Russian Revolution its buildings fell into neglect, Here photographed at sunset at about 22h30 hours, still the White Nights period. It has a nostalgic and derelict touch. This grand entrance is not grand anymore, but a stop for tourists boats surfing the channels of Saint Petersburg.

Technical data: Canon 5dMark III, Lenses: Canon TS 17mm, long exposure (4 seconds), f/8 ISO 100, 17mm, tripod, post production with Lightroom and Photoshop

Храм Спаса на Крови (Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood), when photography is forbidden, pictures taste much better ;), Saint Petersburg, Russia

Храм Спаса на Крови (Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood) is one of the marvels of Saint Petersburg. Photography is quite tricky inside the building, but I somehow managed to make a full series on my tripod before I was ordered to stop. Here is an image of the Christ Pantocrator, under the central dome, the last one I took (without my tripod this time, on a  very low shutter speed)- I like the way light comes down from the windows above. It was taken in the early hours, after the morning service, perfect light and atmosphere inside.

Technicalities: Canon 5d mak III, Lenses: Canon Tilt & Shift 17mm, 1/30, aperture: f8, ISO:800
